HIGH-QUALITY

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Review Criteria and Approach

In order to identify and recommend affordable, high-quality instructional materials for non-traditional learning environments, Outschool.org developed criteria based on our experience with more than 40 community-based organizations that aim to develop a love of learning in their students.

This review process was informed by proven educational practices and the lived experiences of the community partners, educators, families, and learners we work with. We developed the following rubric to inform our recommendations according to key criteria: usability, quality, cost, and learner engagement. Our hope is the rubric can be used as a guide for community-based organizations when considering our recommended products as well as other instructional materials for their learner programs.
